Flights take off every day, and some of the most popular aircraft are those that have updated their aircraft display systems and inflight entertainment systems. After all, when people fly, they want some sort of entertainment. Whether it’s in flight movies or other media options, passengers prefer airlines that go above ad beyond to improve the in flight experience.
Just how many people fly each day, though? A lot. In fact, it’s estimated that more than eight million people fly each day. In 2013 alone, more than 3.1 billion travelers took to the sky. And flying isn’t cheap. US residents and international travelers spend an estimated $2.5 billion every day. Once broken down, that translates to $105.8 million each hour, or $1.8 million per minute and $29,398 per second. That’s a lot of money.
However, travelers aren’t just opting for any airline. Rather, they’re choosing airlines that offer the best in flight conveniences, like in flight wifi, superior aircraft display systems and entertainment systems, and more. This is especially true for international flights where passengers are stuck on a plane for a longer period of time than domestic flights. Out of all the airlines out there, a 2014 eDreams review revealed that Emirates has the best in flight entertainment, and about 25 percent of respondents in a 2013 TripAdvisor Air Travel Survey revealed that they choose airlines based on which ones offer wifi. In fact, wifi is quickly becoming one of the biggest deciding factors when choosing flights, because more and more travelers are beginning to travel with things like tablets and cell phones.
While wifi and ife systems are important amenities for airlines to offer, so too is comfort. Many passengers, about 17 percent, prefer to sleep on flights. To accommodate these passengers, many airlines are beginning to look into ways to provide added comfort and roomier accommodations for their passengers.
Whatever your reason for traveling is, whether it’s for a business trip or a leisurely vacation overseas, you’re sure to find an airline that suits your needs. After all, airlines are practically fighting over passengers, which is a big reason why so many are willing to accommodate the wants of their passengers with things like wifi, entertainment systems, and more comfortable travel options.
