You might think renting one of those beach vacation home rentals is a faraway dream, but it’s probably a lot closer than you might think. In fact, there’s likely only one things stopping you from getting one of those luxury vacation rentals: you.
Research shows that many a person is too much of a workaholic to properly enjoy their vacation or even take one. Here are a few stats to make you think about your own work-home life and reconsider renting one of those beach vacation rentals.
People don’t take their vacation days off. – It’s true. People just don’t take their vacation days off. A Harris Interactive poll of 2,300 workers found that only 25% of them use all of their paid days off each year. Another study found that the average American worker gets about 13 vacation days a year, but 34% — more than one in three — don’t take a single day off in any given 12 month period.
People keep working on their vacations. – Here’s the crazier part — people who do take time off actually keep working when they’re supposed to be enjoying their vacation rentals. A Harris Interactive Poll found that 25% of respondents said a colleague had gotten in touch with them about work while they were on vacation, and 20% — one in five — heard form the boss. About 61% — nearly two in three — said that they keep working when they’re on vacation.
People worry about work when they’re on vacation. – Work can be seriously stressful. That’s just a fact of life, and that’s also why it’s important to not only leave work at work, but also take vacations. Yet, even when people do go on vacation, about 30% say that they worry constantly about things at work when they’re trying to relax.
Do yourself a favor and take a vacation. You deserve it, and you’ll be glad that you did. If you have any questions, feel free to share in the comments.
